My first impression after listening to it for a while was that it was a Beirut rip-off. Haha. But as the owner of the video said, “The sound is bigger than Beirut and sound like a full Brass Band with a rough sound.” This is really good though I don’t really like the white-noise like affair which after listening close enough, sounds like some deliberate percussion affair going on. But it’s lovely. I’ll listen to more of them if I bother to check them out. I also think if this guy wants an easier road to success, he should have a shorter and easier-to-pronounce name.
An old, old Beirut track. After listening to this song, I’m pretty sure what makes Beirut sound so good is largely, largely due to Zach Condon’s vocals. If sang by someone else, it’ll just sound … normal.
