Detective Case 1: Urine in the lift?

I’ve often caught myself in a state where I see something strange or ordinary and will proceed to think of a logical backstory, or where I think of certain consequences of my actions and how I could substantiate them to clear my case.

Example 1:

I was walking into the lift when I realised that there’s droplets of liquid (constant, not getting heavier) leading into the lift where there was a tiny pool of liquid formed. I was worried that it might be some (idiotic) person who urinated in there (although I never had such an encounter) so I stood aside. And my brain automatically asked,”But is it urine? Or something else?” And because I couldn’t bring myself taste or smell it (there wasn’t any obvious odour), I presented to myself some logical deductions to prove that it was not.

1. Behavioural evidence: Urinating in the lift is often a prank. The only other possibility is a case of bladder incontinence. For the former, you would usually urinate in the lift not on the outside as well. Walking and urinating for the sake of playing a prank is highly (more…)
